Artist's Statement & Bio: I work in the medium of mixed media collage. Utilizing paint, handcast and decorative papers, found objects, photographs, stamping, embossing, words, sewing and beadwork, I create pieces on fabric, wood and paper. My work is about relationships - the connections and interconnections of life. Within my pieces are images, symbols, colors and words which represent universal life forces; the elements - Fire, Earth, Water, Air; the seven directions - West, North, East, South, Above, Below, and Within, as well as all that is of these forces: the plants, trees, grasses, stones, winged, finned creepy crawlers, four legged and two legged. My artwork is my honoring of/ to the truth and majesty of this that is our world, our universe, our home. Marina Powdermaker
